These are among the best of the Petershams' illustrations. Poems and songs translated into English from the original French, all of them over 100 years old, about shepherdesses, peasants and princes, villagers and sailors, lawyers and millers, carpenters, duchesses and beggars, soldiers and thatched roofs, Gothic church spires, and flowery meadows. .
